Several months ago, we featured a crazy, fun wedding flash mob proposal from Arsh. He worked with a professional dance team and in the Chandigarh mall, danced to Bruno Mars' Marry You. And he proposed to lovely Balraj.
She said yes of course!
And today, we are super duper excited to feature their wedding! And I totally love the energy level and happiness in the wedding.
Arsh and Balraj are fast becoming one of our favourite couples here on weddingsOnline India. First, we had presented their famous and very viral flash mob proposal video. Then, a few months down the line, we presented their real Indian wedding story here.
This time round, they have, very graciously, offered to share their
Malaysia Honeymoon planning tips for other newlyweds. So without further
delay, we will let Arsh take it forward from here:
Marriage Proposals can definitely be nerve wracking events,
particularly for the person doing the proposing. One of our readers,
Arshpreet Singh, went out of his way to make his proposal creative,
unique and unforgettable! Watch the video …this proposal might be the
coolest, the most romantic one you’ve ever watched! All we can say is:
Balraj is one lucky girl!
Here are the details from Arshpreet Singh, the mastermind behind the whole thing.
” We had talked about getting engaged a while ago, but I did not want
it to be just another regular kind of proposal. I wanted to do
something different in order to make Balraj feel special.
Meanwhile, I had witnessed a flash mob in sector 17, Chandigarh which
was focused on a more generic cause. Right there, the idea of mixing the
flash mob with a wedding proposal came to my mind. The idea became more
substantial after I a watched few videos on YouTube related to this.
The biggest challenge was to doing this “Flash Mob Wedding Proposal” in Chandigarh
(while I live & work in Noida). So the first thing which I started
was to work on the music part. I spent some time in deciding the right
songs that I felt would be perfect to be played during this flash mob.
First, I picked up the amazing Valentine Mashup by DJ Kiran Kamath (for
that Hindi flavor), I then mixed (the famous) Macklemore Thrift Shop
with (her favorite) JK & Tru-Skool – Jaddhu, later added a line from
Diljit Dosanjhs- Mr Singh and finally ended it with the most apt song
“Marry You by Bruno Mars”. I mixed all of these together and made a
single 8 minutes track.
Then I started searching for a dance crew in Chandigarh during the
weekends and after multiple meetings with many dance academies and
choreographers, I finally found few dancers who looked promising and
enthusiastic about the flash mob wedding proposal idea.
I later contacted Elante Mall Management team and discussed about
this event with them. It wasn’t easy and took around 3 weeks to convince
them to get their approval. Finding the DJ who would setup the speakers
system in the Mall and find the bouncers who will provide the security
to dancers (just in case) were the next steps.
The next critical part was finding the camera crew that would
understand the concept and record in HD. I intentionally did not hire
Music Video Director in order to optimize the costs. I found a decent
camera crew who understood the concept and briefed them about the
recording angles and my other requirements. They did a great job in
capturing the whole event. I took the content from the camera crew post
the event and spent around 2 days editing the video.
The event was a pure success. She had no idea about it; it looked
like we were watching a regular dance performance until I joined the
dance group. That’s when all her emotions came out. I could see tears in her eyes
at one moment and at the other moment she couldn’t stop laughing. My
sister also gave a fabulous performance along with me and was there to
control my girl and kept her standing. I could feel her shivering while I was putting the ring at the end of the performance. It all ended with 100 strangerscongratulating us and a few people getting their pictures clicked with us. It was our special unforgettable moment and a memory of a lifetime.” Now that is what we call “putting the spin on a classic wedding proposal!”

For a girl, what can be more romantic than having her boyfriend
propose to her when she least expects it, but is secretly wishing for
it? And that too with friends, family and dozens of excited strangers
watching over? Balraj Kaur experienced just that when her boyfriend,
Arsh Singh, proposed to her. With her family present, a plain shopping
trip to the mall turned out to be the most special day of her life. Arsh
carefully planned for a flash mob in Chandigarh’s busy Elante Mall and
proposed to his girlfriend in the presence of friends and family. The
thrill and joy could not be hidden from the faces of everyone present.
Isn’t it exciting to see this rather
western-seeming concept happen in India? As Indians, we love dance, we
love Bollywood moves and all the bhangra energy, and this
proposal has it all! If you think it is almost impossible for you plan
somethig similar, just follow Arsh's moves, and you will get it right.
Something else that you will need is a heart full of love to get it
right.
How about adding this excitement to your proposal?
Arsh's video got us not only dancing, but also being totally involved
in his touching gesture. If your girl loves it big and likes drama,
nothing can be better than a flash mob proposal for her! But remember
that it is very important for her to like a 'flashy' proposal.
When we thought of sharing this video, we were sure it would inspire
you to do something similar for your girl. So, why not take cues from
Arsh to plan a fantastic proposal yourself? If you are still not sure
how, we are here to help you! Just read on for some tips.

Involve the people she loves
The involvement and acceptance of family members is very important
when it comes to Indian girls. So, just like Arsh, you too should talk
to your girlfriend's family in advance and make them a part of your big
plan. Not only would she be touched, but your thoughtful gesture would
make the day of the people she loves too. With your loved ones showering
their wishes and blessings, it would become even more perfect, wouldn't
it?
Don’t rush! Give adequate planning time
The fantastic outcome that the video shows requires a lot of
planning; for days or even weeks in advance. If you want to plan a
similar proposal for your girl, you just cannot decide today and have it
tomorrow! Plan well in advance. You will need to get your act together,
decide on a venue, ask for permissions, book a camera crew, choose
supporting performers and finalise the right day.
Choose the right day
Make sure that you choose the right day to propose. For a flash mob
proposal, a busy weekday would not be a smart idea. Plan it on a holiday
or maybe a special occasion, when you can have a lot of crowd gathered
to create more drama. Like, in Arsh’s case, it was the sale season on,
so the mall was flooded with shoppers!
Find the right venue
A flash mob proposal will only work if you have the right kind of
crowd to gather and participate in the excitement. The best place for it
is a mall, or other venues like theme parks, crowded shopping streets
on weekends or gaming centres.

Plan for the right act
Remember that you are planning to perform in front of a large
audience. Pictures will be taken, videos will be recorded and uploaded
online, and shared. So, make sure you plan something that is not boring.
Like Arsh, plan for some high energy songs to groove on and have great
dancers. If you are planning to bank on your vocal skills, make sure you
practice a lot and well in advance, so you don’t end up goofing up in
front of the large crowd. Try to think of innovative ways to make the
whole act foot-tapping and least boring.
Once you start, make it very clear
This is the most important part. Plan the flash mob in such a way
that it becomes very clear right at the onset that it is about “her” and
your love, and that there is a possible proposal coming up. Your
performance should not be confused with some random publicity stunt or a
prank. Fill the air with enough romance to make the difference clear
and slip little romantic hints to sweep her into the right frame of
mind. Just like Arsh, involve her best friend or sister in the act so
that it becomes very clear. This will prepare her for what is coming up
and the sudden rush of adrenaline to seal the deal. Take a hint from
Arsh, who planned a performance on all of Balraj’s favourite dance
numbers. He slowly but swiftly joined the dancers and got down on his
knees before the act got boring.
Arsh finally gets down on his knees and proposes; Balraj accepts!
Time the "big question"
Remember, your body language will play a decisive role in the
proposal. Her eyes will be fixated on you and little things here can
make the ending to a “Happily ever after” and “Oh, he is just some guy I
knew!” So, time your act carefully. Your entry into the act, your moves
and the time when you pop the question will be crucial. The focus of
the act - the big question - should not take so long that your girl gets
confused and loses interest, nor should it be so quick that it fails to
appear romantic.
